Who We Are​

A Non-governmental Organization

SOLACE INITIATIVE (SI), was established in 2012 and registered in April 2013 is a non-for-profit, non-governmental organization committed to working for the promotion and protection of the human rights of all persons specifically Lesbians, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender and
Queer (LGBTQ+) people in Ghana.

SOLACE is an LGBTQ lead group aimed at initiating and implementing programs and projects that are aimed at supporting the realisation of LGBTQ+ human rights by working with grass root LGBTQ+ people who face social injustices, discrimination and continuous
human rights abuses because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Mission

To promote the respect of human rights, equality, advance equality and equity and ensure minority groups have the needed protection and support to live a productive and fulfilling life

Vision

A safe and secure Ghana where the human rights of all persons are respected, diversity is promoted and the wellbeing of minority groups is advanced.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To advocate for the fundamental human rights of minority groups, specifically, LGBTQ+ members through the provision of legal support.
  • To ensure that sexual minorities have access to adequate health services in the Country and their health needs a equally met
  • To reduce SOGIESC related stigma among sexual minoritie’s people, civil society organisations, as well as the public through carefully crafted programming and advocacy.
  • To build movements and coalition among LGBTQ+ groups in Ghana and within Africa
  • To offer a safe space for sexual minorities to meet socially.
  • To invest in LGBTQ+ leadership training across Ghana through capacity building programmes, resource mobilisation and technical assistance
